Modification and material
The scheme was approved as a Part 21J Minor Modification and produced as a full kit, with the material and the manpower for the installation provided together rather than ordered from three places.
EASA Part 21J Minor ModExterior livery, cabin, tray tables and ambient lighting on LEAV’s Airbus A320 D-ANNE. It went into the hangar in the evening and was back on the line in the morning.
In summer 2025 McDonald’s brought products from around the world to Germany, and wanted an aircraft to carry the campaign. LXM AERO turned an A320 into a flying version of it: full exterior livery showing the different countries, tray table graphics in three motifs, and the cabin’s ambient lighting set to McDonald’s own brand colours.
A marketing campaign has a launch date, and an aircraft has a flight schedule. The only way both survive is if the work fits into a single night — which is what it did.
An exterior livery is seen by people on the ground. The part a passenger actually spends two hours with is the tray table.

EASA Part 21J Minor ModFull exterior vinyl livery depicting the different countries the campaign brought products from — applied at the aircraft rather than in a paint booth, and therefore not on anyone else’s schedule.
Applied on siteTray table graphics in three different motifs, so the campaign reads differently depending on where you sit. Cabin surfaces are a different discipline from a fuselage, and were done by the same team in the same window.
Cabin brandingThe cabin’s digital ambient lighting was set to match McDonald’s brand colours precisely. That was possible because the same aircraft already carries the liTeMood system from STG Aerospace and the AirFi LEO wireless IFE our cabin team installed at Hangar 2 in Hannover, with Challenge Technic — so the lighting was a setting to change, not a system to build.
Cabin systemsSend the campaign, the aircraft and the date it has to be visible. We will tell you what is technically possible before your agency finishes the artwork, which is the cheaper moment to find out.
