Every winter the same problem: heavy maintenance season, and no hangar slot in Central Europe for a widebody. Teaming up with Challenge Technic, we opened one at Hannover Airport that had been underused for years.
Airlines operating widebodies in Europe keep running into the same wall: hangar slots are limited and tightly scheduled, and in winter — the heavy maintenance season — they are effectively gone. Together with Challenge Technic, a Part 145 organisation, we support operations directly at Hannover Airport, Hangar 2.
What makes it unusual is not the building. The airport operates around the clock on parallel runways, so the aircraft can arrive and leave when the schedule requires — and the slot that is hard to find anywhere else in winter is available here.
We bring the surface and cabin work. Challenge Technic brings the Part 145 approval and the line maintenance. The customer signs once.

A large-scale livery on a widebody is a logistical problem before it is a technical one, and in the winter heavy-maintenance season there was no suitable facility. When Austrian asked us to provide the location as well, the answer was Hangar 2. The work demanded extensive surface preparation, precise alignment of vinyl segments and optimised adhesion for real operating conditions.
First project of this scale at the siteA one-day modification: the cabin lighting of A320 D-ANNE replaced with the liTeMood LED system from STG Aerospace, installed by our team together with Challenge Technic. Customisable cabin moods, colours and dynamic scenes for different flight phases. It was also the first time two aircraft were serviced at Hangar 2 simultaneously — the A320 alongside a Challenge Air Cargo B747-412 (BCF).
One day, released back into serviceOriginally planned elsewhere and moved to Hannover because of weather. Full livery change into Transavia colours plus a complete EASA Part 21J modification, including material supply, logistics and installation. Release to service under Part 145 by Challenge Technic; the aircraft was ferried on to Rotterdam. It flew the summer 2025 ACMI programme for Transavia.
From Vilnius to Rotterdam, via HannoverHannover has 24/7 operations and a parallel runway system with a 3,800 m northern runway on CAT IIIb ILS. For a hangar that spent years underused, that combination is unusual: a site that can take a widebody and an airport that will not turn you away because of the hour or the weather.
