Placards, markings and stencils

Exterior technical markings, mandatory placards, multi-language cabin sets and the stencils a paint facility works from — as full kits or as a single decal, with catalogues per aircraft type.

In short

Markings and placards are the part of an aircraft nobody notices until one is missing, faded or in the wrong language — and then they stop an aircraft. We produce them for every type, from a complete exterior marking catalogue down to a single replacement decal, with the certification documents attached. The same discipline produces stencils and spray masks when a scheme is painted rather than wrapped.

What is included

Four things, one order

Most of this is bought piecemeal from different suppliers, each with its own lead time. It does not have to be.

Exterior technical markings

Full kits or individual decals for every aircraft type, with catalogues so your engineering can pick from a list instead of describing. Solvent-proof, UV-resistant and compatible with all common paint systems — Mankiewicz, PPG and AKZO — available as stencil or as decal.

CoC or EASA Form 1

Cabin placards

Flame-retardant polycarbonate placards in single or multiple languages, for all aircraft types, with catalogues per type. Every item comes with a Certificate of Conformity or an EASA Form 1 — and where the change needs an approval of its own, the Part 21J Minor Modification comes with it.

Cabin messaging and branding

Larger-format cabin placards for an airline’s own product messages, tray table, overhead bin and bulkhead branding — and the onboarding of ancillary partners, where the cabin becomes an advertising medium rather than only a surface.

Stencils and spray masks

When the scheme is painted, the difficulty moves to the template. We break a livery into stencil sections with defined reference points and alignment instructions, and supply the painting methodology and application manual the paint facility works from — on the FlyOne Asia hexagonal fade that came to more than eighty sections.

Ten aircraft, one standard

For a major leasing company we rebuilt the complete exterior marking set for the transition of ten Boeing 787-8 to Thai Airways. The aircraft carried Mandarin and English markings from their previous operator; we re-mapped the set from hundreds of detailed photographs — stencils, technical markings, panel markers and engine markings — approved as an EASA Part 21J Minor Modification.

A worked example

Employer branding on board, without an extra slot

We carried out the installation during the aircraft’s standard maintenance cycle, using the regular maintenance lane. That meant no additional maintenance slots and no operational downtime — the schedule never saw the project.

Eurowings got a powerful tool for on-board self-promotion out of a streamlined, cost-efficient process. The same route works for product messaging and for ancillary partners.

Questions we get asked

Markings, answered before the first call

Can we order a single decal?

Yes. Full kits and individual items come from the same catalogue, with the same documentation — a Certificate of Conformity or an EASA Form 1, depending on what your records require.

Are your markings compatible with our paint system?

Yes — the materials are qualified against the common aviation paint systems, including Mankiewicz, PPG and AKZO, and are solvent-proof and UV-resistant. If your fleet uses something else, tell us the system when you enquire and we will confirm before you order.

Can cabin placards be supplied in several languages?

Yes, in single or multiple languages, on flame-retardant polycarbonate, for all aircraft types. The change from a single- to a dual-language set is a common scope on aircraft transitions — and where it needs an approval of its own, a standalone Part 21J Minor Modification can be supplied with it, produced with our Part 21J DOA and Part 21G POA partners under EASA, UK CAA, UAE GCAA or FAA approval.

Can you supply the scheme if another paint shop does the painting?

Yes, and that is a service in its own right. We break the scheme into stencil sections with defined reference points and alignment instructions, and supply a painting methodology and application manual with it. On two FlyOne Asia A321neo with a hexagonal fade livery that came to more than eighty individual sections, delivered together with the exterior technical markings: fuselage titles, tail graphics, underbelly markings, registration kits and the CoC documentation.

Is there a catalogue we can work from?

Yes, per aircraft type, for exterior markings and for cabin placards. Ask for the catalogue for your type and your engineering can specify from a list instead of describing items in an email thread.
